There is some pretty good value in the long term play prop markets. Here are my pick of them.
Most Receiving Yards
Julio Jones $19 (Bet365)
There is a reason the Falcons gave up so much to trade up for this kid, he is a stud, plain and simple. Julio is physically a massive unit, who has a tremendous burst of speed, making him a very dangerous deep threat. In his preseason outings he has notched up 240 yards and a touchdown on 13 receptions in just 6 quarters of action. If he can stay fit, then with an increased passing game expected Jones could well thrive. He has looked utterly unstoppable in preseason, building on his strong finish to 2011. Calvin Johnson deserves to be favourite but Jones is big overs at $19.
Most Passing Yards
Matt Stafford $10 (Sportsbet)
Stafford broke out in 2o11 and became the player the Lions expected when they drafted him number 1. He unleashed a massive 5000 passing yards and was the third highest on total passing yards. With a complete lack of a running game, expect the Lions and Stafford to air it out a heap more in season 2012. With another season under the belt he may well yield even higher number, lets not forget he played with an injured hand for a number of weeks last year that limited him. How Rivers and Eli Manning are ahead of him on the line of betting I have no idea.
Most Rushing Yards
Arian Foster $5.5o (Sportsbet)
If Foster stays fit I reckon he takes it out, he had the second highest average rushing yards per game last season to only MJD, and amassed 1224 yards despite missing the first 3 weeks with a hamstring injury. With MJD holding out, Foster now becomes the outstanding canditate to lead the NFL in rushing, with a great offensive line opening holes for him, expect Arian to thrive.
Ray Rice $9.50 (Sportsbet)
If you don’t want to bet on a favourite then one to consider is Ray Rice, who at $9.50 is certainly overs. No question he should be the second favourite to Foster, after finishing second overall last season. Instead a recovering AP and holding out MJD are ahead of him on the line of betting. Rice has shown himself to be a dynamic runner and ultra durable, he is certainly worth a bet at those odds.
Defensive Rookie of the Year
Luke Kuechly $6.50 (Sportsbet)
Taken at pick 9 in the draft, Kuechly is expected to have an immediate impact. The highly talented young linebacker out of Boston College has drawn favourable comparisons to Brian Urlacher throughout training camp and has looked red hot in the preseason. He has layed 17 tackles which is the second most in the league and whilst you don’t want to read into preseason too much, he is showing the hunger and determination required at this level. He will be given every chance to shine and I expect him to seize this oppurtunity. This kid is going to be a star, and as a three time all American, there is reason he starts as favourite for the award.
